The Greene County wrestling season got underway with a triangular in Jefferson Tuesday, November 27. The Rams fell to a strong Van Meter/Earlham team 53-18 but
topped Ogden 61-18.
Saturday the team traveled to Dallas Center for the DC-G Invite. A traditionally tough tournament, the lineup included some top-notch teams. Greene County finished in 11th place with 55 points. The title went to Ankeny Centennial with 234 points, followed by the hosts with 170.5.

DC-G Invite
Four of the 11 wrestlers making the trip to Grimes earned medal placings. Nathan Black, a 145-pound freshman finished third. He went into the tournament 5-1 and ended 8-2. Black added a pin and two decisions to his record. His only loss, a technical fall, was delivered by Colby Tool, a PCM sophomore who is ranked #2 in the preseason in Class 2A by IA Wrestle. Unfortunately, Black’s season came to an end Monday with shoulder surgery.
Clint Dennhardt was fourth at 182-pounds; Braden Gallagher, fifth at 106, and Brady Stauffer, seventh at 138.
